Please carefully read our COVID policies:

1) Students must stay home if they have any symptoms of a cold, flu or are coughing, sneezing, have a headache, have loss of taste or smell or have a fever for any reason.

2) Parents, siblings or friends are not permitted in the studio but are welcome to watch on the deck.

3) Face to face group classes will have a maximum of 5 students plus instructor. 

4) All surfaces will be cleaned between classes. 

5) Students will be required to bring their own sewing kit to classes including fabric and paper scissors to minimize sharing of tools.

6) Students will wash hands before class starts.

7) Sanitizer will be available.

8) ALL in person classes will be moved immediately to Zoom if public school is cancelled and or it is deemed necessary by the public health authorities or the studio or if there is a potential exposure in any studio class. Should this happen, classes will continue on the same day and time, and the studio will have all supplies available at the studio for pick up. The curriculum will be adapted if needed to accommodate hand sewing for students who do not have home access to a sewing machine.

9) All students agree to personally notify the studio immediately should they or any member of their household have any Covid related health concerns or infections or if they or any member of their household has been required to quarantine because of potential exposure.

PRIVACY WILL BE MAINTAINED but families must notify the studio and not wait for public health authorities as there can be significant delays.

10) Masks are mandatory in all inside areas unless student is unable to wear one because of medical or emotional reasons.

PLEASE DISCUSS THIS WITH THE STUDIO BEFORE YOUR CLASS.

11) Students and their family agree to not hold the studio responsible for attending face to face classes at this time.

All materials, handouts and a sewing binder are included. Students must have a sewing machine. If students do not have a sewing machine they must make arrangements with the studio when registering and the studio will happily provide one.

In this 1 day in studio workshop, designers will sew a pocket cat or bunny stuffie using hand and machine sewing skills. This class is for beginner or intermediate sewing students ages 6 and older, however please note this class will not cover an introduction to threading a sewing machine.

All materials, thread and supplies are included. 

Students must have a sewing machine. If students do not have a sewing machine they must make arrangements with the studio when registering and the studio will happily provide one.

SLOUCHIE ROSE TOQUE WORKSHOP

In this 1 day workshop, sewers will cut and sew 1 slouchy stretchy rose toque in fabrics of their choice. Available sizes newborn to adult. Students will also make and take their own pattern to be able to create many more toques! 

 

This class is for machine sewing students who want to grow their skills and have completed at least 1 small sewing projects. Techniques covered include sewing stretchy fabric and hand sewing. Please note this class will not cover an introduction to using a sewing machine so students must have taken a class before and or be comfortable threading and using the basic features on their sewing machine. 

All materials, thread and supplies are included. Students must have a sewing machine and basic sewing kit (including fabric scissors, pins and a measuring tape). If students do not have a sewing machine they must make arrangements with the studio when registering and the studio will happily provide one.

This homeschool class takes beginner and experienced sewers through skill appropriate projects with complete creative freedom.

 

Brand new sewers will learn an introduction to using a sewing machine in a safe and professional manner. Students will learn to thread their own sewing machine with confidence, seam allowances and new sewing terminology. Students will be given lots of opportunity to practice and improve their accuracy and learn to use some of the basic features of their sewing machine as they complete fun beginner projects like stuffies, scrunchies and a pin cushion.

Intermediate and advanced students will be offered projects to choose from and will work at their own pace. Past projects have included accessories, skirts, shorts and pj shorts, animal hats, sweatshirts and cardigans, housecoats and dresses.

 

In addition to sewing, each session will have a unique topic that builds on the students understanding of the fashion industry. Past topics have included fabric content, fashion illustration, local and global fashion brands and the garment industries affect on the environment.

 

Students will be encouraged to expand their 2D and 3D design skills through design challenges and be given a fashion sketchbook to record and develop their ideas and inspiration. 

All materials included, please bring a sewing machine and sewing kit (including fabric and paper scissors, a stitch ripper, fabric chalk and measuring tape). If you don't have a sewing machine, please make arrangements with the studio when registering.

 

MULTI-LEVEL ZOOM HOMESCHOOL GROUP

If you do not have any of these items please let the studio know and we will happily provide them for a small additional cost.

 

Advanced students must provide a pattern and fabric of their choice.

TEEN GROUP CLASSES

STUDENTS 14 YEARS AND OLDER LEARN AND PERFECT THEIR MACHINE AND HAND SEWING SKILLS IN A SAFE AND PROFESSIONAL MANNER. A VARIETY OF PROJECTS ARE OFFERED AND STUDENTS ARE GIVEN AS MUCH CREATIVE FREEDOM AS THEIR SKILL LEVEL ALLOWS. PROJECTS INCLUDE SCRUNCHIES, SMALL ZIPPERED POUCHES, INFINITY SCARVES, CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES. 

MULTI-LEVEL TEEN GROUP

Beginner new sewers will learn to use a sewing machine in a safe and professional manner. Students will learn to thread their own sewing machine with confidence, seam allowances and new sewing terminology. Students will be given lots of opportunity to practice and improve their accuracy and learn to use some of the basic features of their sewing machine. Once they are confident using their machines, they will move on to beginner projects.

Intermediate students will be offered projects to choose from and will work at their own pace. Projects can include scrunchies, zippered bags and make up bags, pj shorts, a variety of different skirts, a sweater, t-shirts, sweatshirts and accessories. 

 

Advanced sewers must bring their own commercial pattern and fabric to work on during class time. 

Students will be encouraged to expand their 2D and 3D design skills through design challenges and be given a fashion sketchbook to record and develop their ideas and inspiration. 

*Students who have completed at least 2 hours of an intro to sewing course and or are comfortable threading their machine may do this course over Zoom. Please contact the studio if you are interested in Zoom option but do not meet this requirement and we will help coordinate a private or semi-private class. Students who wish to do this class over Zoom will need a sewing machine at home and sewing kit (including fabric and paper scissors, a seam ripper, measuring tape and fabric chalk, 2-3 bobbins, a zipper foot, an invisible zipper foot and at least 1 colour of thread). If you do not have any of these items please let the studio know and we will happily provide them for a small additional cost.
